DECLARING YOUR MAJOR: Instructions - Ecology & Evolutionary Biology (EEB)

Follow these guidelines for declaring the Ecology and Evolution BS, Marine Biology BS, or Plant Science BS degrees.
1. Download the Declaration of Major form.
2.

Enter your General Education Requirements into section 1 of the Declaration form using your Degree Progress Report and the Student Advising Summary, and then contact your College for specific instructions on having section 1 approved by your College. Your College advisor can clarify your general education and university requirements and assist you in planning for their completion. You must have your college advisor's signature to proceed.

3.

Create your academic plan or come to drop in an advisng to have a BioAdvisor assist you with creating your plan.

4.

Meet with a BioAdvisor: bring your Declaration of Major form (signed by your college advisor) to meet with a BioAdvisor during Drop In Advising. At that time, we can discuss your academic plan, academic goals, opportunities in the major, and help you with any other questions you might have about the program.

If you will not be able to complete your course work by the expected graduation term established by your college, you will need to return to your college to petition for an extension of enrollment.

5.

Choose a faculty advisor then meet with them: discuss your selected major, academic plan, choice of electives, research interests, post-graduate career goals, etc. Your faculty advisor is an expert in their field and can offer a wealth of information about the pursuit of science as both a course of study and a career. Be prepared - read up on your faculty advisor and their research prior to meeting, bring a list of questions you'd like answered, your academic planner, and the Faculty Advising form which must be signed by you and your faculty advisor. Select the Faculty Advising form for your particular major below:

6. Return the signed Faculty Advising form to the BioAdvising Office drop box outside of 387 Thimann Labs or fax it to 459-1568 by the last day of the quarter in which you are declaring. If you do not submit a signed Faculty Advising form your major may be undeclared.
