PREPARING TO GRADUATE

To graduate with any of the Biological Sciences degrees, you will need to fulfill a number of requirements in addition to your course requirements. It is recommended you drop in to the BioAdvising Office before your final quarter for a "grad check" - an advisor will go over your academic record with you to be sure you have satisfied all necessary requirements to graduate. You can also conduct your own graduation check by following the list below:

GRADUATION CHECKLIST:
1. Have you satisfied all your course requirements?
Download a degree checklist and carefully go over the course requirements making absolutely sure you have satisfied every one. Do you have enough electives? labs?
2. Have you completed 180 units?
Check your Student Portal, you must have 180 units to graduate.
3. Have you satisfied all your general education requirements?
Check your Student Portal, you must satisfy all your GEs to graduate.
4. Have you fulfilled your senior exit/comprehensive requirement?
Your senior exit requirement isn't satisfied until BioAdvising has proof it's been satisfied. Be sure you plan ahead to satisfy your requirement and have your score, evaluation, or grade reported before the end of the quarter in which you expect to graduate.
5. Are you declared?
Are you declared the major you have satisfied the requirements for? It may seem a silly question but often times students are not declared the major they intend to graduate with.
6. Have you announced candidacy with the Registrar?
Graduation is not automatic, you must file an announcement of candidacy through your student portal the quarter you intend to graduate.
