Biological Sciences Undergraduate Program |
*Please note: Math 22 is not required for all Biological Science majors. Please see your specific degree checklist for math requirement. ** A chemistry placement exam is not required to enroll in general chemistry. All students, with exception to those with credit for Chem 1A, must begin the chemistry series with Chem 1A. It is important to note that some graduate programs and professional schools (such as medical school) may not accept AP credit in leu college course work. Please be in contact with said programs for clarification. *** A biology placement exam is not required to enroll in Biology 3 or the Biology 20 series. There is, however, a biology self-assessment exam to help you determine if you should consider enrolling in Biol 3 (Concepts in Biology) or are prepared to begin the Biology 20 series. Biol 20A has a prerequisite of Chem 1B. Check your Student Portal to see if your AP credit has been articulated by Admissions. If your AP credit does not appear on your transfer credit summary, submit a copy of your exam score to the BioAdvising Office for articulation. If you have taken the Internation Bacheloriat Exam credit in biology, it applies to your major much the same as the Advanced Placement Exams...
If you have taken IB Exams for either math or chemistry you will need to contact the Math Department or Chemistry Department to determine if your exam score exempts you from taking the placement exam or qualifies for course credit here at UCSC. QUESTIONS: Contact BioAdvising
