Sample Schedule Planner:   HEALTH SCIENCES B.S.  2008-09

These are some suggested academic plans for the Health Science BS major. Schedules may vary based on an individual student's preparation and academic progress. Ideally, students enroll in two science/math courses and one non-science course per quarter. Students can make academic plans less rigorous by taking courses over the summer. Courses during the summer can be taken through UCSC Summer Session or at another institution.

Sample plans are based on Math placement and high school preparation in the Chemistry and Biology. Optional self-assessments are available to help you begin in the appropriate courses in Chemistry and Biology.

Students must take the Spanish placement exam in order to begin enrolling in Spanish courses for the Health Science major (even if they wish to begin in Spanish 1). First year students can begin their Spanish language courses in the first year in place of general education courses.

Students preparing for professional school should check in with the campus Health Career Resource Specialist, Marti Truhitte for advice on prerequisites for various health programs including medical school.
