Sample Schedule Planner:   NEUROSCIENCE & BEHAVIOR B.S.  2008-09

These are some suggested academic plans for the Biology BS major. Schedules may vary based on an individual student's preparation and academic progress. Ideally, students enroll in two science/math courses and one non-science course per quarter. Students can make academic plans less rigorous by taking courses over the summer. Courses during the summer can be taken through UCSC Summer Session or at another institution. If you intend to puruse a Biological Sciences major, it is extremely important to begin your science and math course work in your first year at UCSC. Failure to begin these courses early will delay your graduation.

The sample plans below are based on Math placement and high school preparation in Chemistry. You can begin your Chemistry course work with either Chem 1P or Chem 1A. The Chemistry department offers an optional self-assessment to help you decide which Chemistry course is best. If you're beginning with Math 2 or Math 3, we recommend you wait until Winter quarter to begin Chemistry 1A.

PLAN ONE is for students placing into Math 2 & and choosing to begin in Chem 1P:
